Overview

Sancta Domenica is one of Croatia’s leading electronics retailers. As Head of Design and Development, I owned the digital estate — the main consumer webshop, the B2B procurement platform, and the regional expansion into Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Not a single platform. A connected ecosystem of storefronts, each with its own audience, requirements, and constraints.

The Challenge

Scale and consistency in tension. Each storefront needed to serve its audience precisely — consumer retail, B2B bulk purchasing, and regional market variation all have different UX requirements. But they all needed to feel like Sancta Domenica.

Operationally, the stakes were just as high: multiple development teams, EU funding proposals, third-party integrations across helpdesk, marketing, CRM, and analytics — all running simultaneously, all requiring coordination.

My Scope

I was accountable for the full digital operation:

  • Planning, scoping, and executing all digital projects across the portfolio
  • Writing project proposals for EU funding programmes
  • UX/UI design and prototyping across all platforms
  • Managing developer and design teams to deliver on time and within budget
  • Integrating and maintaining helpdesk, marketing automation, CRM systems, and analytics infrastructure

Design Approach

The design system was built for scale first. A shared component library gave every storefront a consistent visual and interaction foundation. From there, each platform was tuned for its audience.

The consumer webshop prioritised discovery and speed — category navigation, smart filtering, and a checkout optimised for mobile. The B2B platform shifted emphasis: bulk ordering, account-level pricing, and quote management took precedence over editorial content. The regional BiH variant adapted for local market expectations while inheriting the full component set.

Consistency without uniformity. Every platform recognisably Sancta Domenica, every one fit for purpose.

Outcome

The ecosystem was successfully delivered and sustained across all platforms. Sancta Domenica maintained its position as a market leader in Croatian electronics retail — with a digital operation that scaled alongside the business.
